Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman was the first child born to Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. In her early years, Ruth Roman's father, a carnival barker, passed away, which caused her mother, Mary Pauline (Gold) to work as cleaner or waitress in order for them to remain alive. Ruth grew up in a tenement community that was poor in Boston, Massachusetts, where she went to school. However, she was only in school for a couple of years, then going on to pursue an acting profession. The route she took wasn't without its challenges. While in New York, her first job involved posing stills in crime magazines. her dream of performing in the theater she longed to do was abyssal. While in New York, she volunteered in a bar as an entry-point girl, before quitting before moving to Boston. The New England Repertory Company was the first job she had as a steady actor. Earned money working during the day in the ushering department. She graduated with a certificate in drama at Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
